Opening · Chapter 1
I spent eight years working as a VIP hostess in the city’s most exclusive nightclub. I endured handsy, drunk rich guys touching me, swallowing my disgust every single night.
All of that was just to buy my fiancé a luxury car and a gorgeous apartment. But right when we were preparing for our wedding, his exgirlfriend, Chloe, returned to the country.
Logan told me she wanted to go out and sing, so he brought her straight to the highend lounge where I worked. He even specifically demanded that I personally serve them.
The moment I sat down, Chloe crossed her slender legs and pressed her glowing cigarette butt directly into the back of my hand. "Logan, isn't your fiancé the best at serving people?
Make her pour my drinks on her knees.
After all, she’d do anything for a few hundred dollars in tips." Instead of feeling any pity, Logan pinned my shoulders and forced me down, disgust dripping from his face. "Scarlett, Chloe is doing you a favor by letting you serve her!
Your hands are already dirty anyway. Pouring her drinks is a privilege! Go scrub them clean first.
Don't bring the smell of other men around Chloe!" He kicked the back of my knees, his voice rising with violent impatience. "You smile at every random guy all day long.
How cheap can you get? Stay away from Chloe from now on. I’m worried you have some kind of disease!" Fine.
We weren't even married yet, and the moment his exgirlfriend showed up, I became a worthless piece of trash who would sleep with anyone for cash.
I was indeed just a VIP hostess here.
But I never told them that I actually owned the entire skyscraper they were standing in. "Scarlett, get on your knees and pour the wine." Chloe sat in the center of the plush leather sofa, her long legs crossed, a cigarette dangling from her fingers.
I had just pushed the door open, carrying a fruit platter, a professional smile still plastered on my face. Logan sat right beside Chloe, his arm casually draped over her shoulders.
Hearing Chloe’s demand, he didn’t even blink. He simply pointed at the glasses on the coffee table. "What are you standing there for?
Didn't you hear Chloe?" I set the fruit platter down, forcing down the burning anger in my chest. "I am the VIP floor manager here, not a bottle girl." "Floor manager?" Chloe let out a sharp laugh, blowing a thick cloud of smoke right into my face. "What a fancy title for a glorified madam.
You’ve been hustling in a place like this for eight years. Who are you trying to play pure for?" Suddenly, she leaned forward and grabbed my wrist. "Tsk, tsk. These hands.
Who knows how many random men have put their hands on them." Chloe’s eyes filled with sheer disgust.
The next second, she slammed her burning cigarette butt onto the back of my hand. Sizzle! The nauseating smell of burnt flesh immediately filled the air.
An agonizing pain shot straight to my heart. I jerked my hand back.
A black, ugly burn mark was left on my skin, surrounded by angry red swelling. "What the hell is wrong with you!" I clutched my hand, glaring at her. Slap! Logan stood up and slapped me hard across the face.
The force was so strong that my ears rang. I tasted copper as blood trickled from the corner of my mouth. "Scarlett!
How dare you speak to Chloe like that!" Logan grabbed my collar, dragging me toward the table and shoving my shoulders downward. "Chloe is doing you a favor!
What's wrong with leaving a little mark on you?" "Your hands are filthy anyway, covered in bacteria and cheap streetsmell.
Serving Chloe is your privilege!" I refused to kneel, locking my joints and resisting with everything I had.
Logan raised his foot and kicked me hard in the back of my knees. Thud. My knees slammed heavily against the cold marble floor.
A sharp, cracking pain shot up my legs. "I told you to kneel! You’ve put yourself in every degrading position imaginable just for a few hundred bucks in tips.
Why are you acting like a saint now?" Logan looked down at me, his eyes devoid of any warmth. There was only irritation and disgust. "Go scrub yourself clean!
Don't bring your filthy stench near Chloe!" Sitting around them were his old college buddies, all snickering and watching the show.
None of them remembered how I had worked day and night for the past eight years just to fund Logan’s master's degree, his luxury car, and his apartment.
I lifted my head, staring directly into Logan’s eyes. "Logan, for the past eight years, I paid for everything.
The deed to that apartment has your name on it, and the car you drive is registered under your name too." "And that was your job!" Logan interrupted me impatiently. "With your background, getting to marry me is like winning the lottery.
I don't even complain about how dirty you are, so what's wrong with spending some of your money?" Chloe giggled, leaning back into Logan’s chest. "Logan, babe, don't be mad.
Maybe she's just not used to serving women.
After all, she usually only services men." She extended her leg, the pointed tip of her red stiletto lifting my chin. "Lick the spilled wine off the floor, and I might forgive your rudeness." I looked at the red wine splashed across the floor, now mixed with cigarette ash.
Logan grabbed my hair, forcing my face down toward the puddle. "Did you hear her? Chloe told you to lick it!" I spat directly onto his polished leather shoe. "In your dreams."
Opening · Chapter 2
I was dragged out of the VIP room by security. Logan claimed I had ruined the mood. In front of all his friends, he threw me out. "Go back to the apartment!
Stop embarrassing me here!" Dragging my injured, bruised leg, I limped all the way back to the apartment. The moment I unlocked the door, I froze.
The living room was a complete disaster. My makeup, my expensive skincare products—everything had been swept off the counters, shattered into a million glass shards on the floor.
My clothes had been ripped out of the closet and scattered everywhere. The bedroom door was wide open.
Chloe was standing by the bed, giving Logan directions. "Logan, this bedding is so tacky. Red?
It looks so cheap and trashy, just like a certain someone." Without a second thought, Logan stuffed the expensive wedding duvet I had carefully chosen into a giant trash bag. "Throw it out!
All of it! What color do you like, Chloe? I’ll buy it right now." "Let's go with pure white. Clean and elegant." Chloe turned around and saw me standing at the door.
She gasped, feigning surprise as she covered her mouth. "Oh, Scarlett, you're back? I'm so sorry, but I'm a bit of a germaphobe.
I really couldn't stand the smell of your cheap perfume in here." The moment Logan saw me, his face darkened instantly.
He threw the trash bag right at my feet. "Get this garbage out of here.
It’s an eyesore." Through the plastic, I could see a corner of the matching hoodies we had bought for our wedding photoshoot. "This is my apartment," I said, stepping over the trash bag and walking into the bedroom. "Who gave you permission to touch my things?" Logan took a few steps forward and shoved me back. "Your apartment?
The deed has my name on it!" "I paid the down payment! I pay the mortgage every single month!" "So what?
You did that voluntarily!" Logan spoke with sickening righteousness. "Besides, where did your money come from? It's all dirty money you earned by selling smiles to random men!
Me spending your money is helping you wash it clean!" He pointed at my nose, his face twisted in disgust. "Scarlett, have some selfrespect, will you?
Chloe is an Ivy League graduate. She’s an artist. Her staying here brings status to this place." "Look at you. Covered in alcohol, caked in makeup.
You make me sick just looking at you." Chloe walked over, wrapping her arm around Logan's. She waved her hand in front of her nose dismissively. "Logan, tell her to take a shower.
The smell is too strong. It's giving me a headache." Logan’s face softened instantly into a tender smile as he looked at Chloe. "Of course, babe.
Anything you say." Then he spun around and yelled at me, "Get into the bathroom! Scrub yourself at least three times before you come out!
Don't bring your bacteria near Chloe!" "And another thing—you’re sleeping on the couch tonight. Chloe gets the master bedroom." My entire body shook with rage. "By what right?
I'm your fiancée!" "Because Chloe is a guest! Because she is cleaner than you!
More noble than you!" Logan shoved me into the bathroom and slammed the door shut. "Don't come out until you're clean!" There was only cold water.
They had turned off the water heater. Logan said Chloe didn't like the water too hot because it would ruin her skin.
I stood under the freezing water, letting it wash over the burn mark on my hand. The sting was agonizing.
Through the door, I could hear their giggles and whispers. "Logan, she probably used this bathtub too, right? That’s so gross. I want a new one." "We'll get a new one!
First thing tomorrow! I'll have the whole bathroom remodeled for you!" "Oh, Logan, you’re the best..." I turned off the shower and looked at myself in the mirror.
My lip was busted, my hair was soaking wet and messy, and I looked incredibly pathetic.
Opening · Chapter 3
The next morning, I was kicked awake by Logan. I had spent the night curled up on the living room sofa, with only a thin coat covering me. "Look at the time!
Get up and make breakfast!" Logan threw an apron directly onto my face. "Chloe wants freshly ground soy milk and French toast.
Make sure you cut the crusts off." I pulled the apron off my face and threw it onto the floor. "No." Logan blinked, stunned for a second, before exploding into a rage. "Are you losing your mind, Scarlett?
Do you want me to hit you again?" He raised his hand, ready to strike. Chloe, wearing a silk robe, strolled out of the bedroom sleepily. "Logan, don't be mad.
She’s probably just exhausted from last night." She sat down at the dining table and pointed to a flyer on the table. "Oh, by the way, Logan. My birthday is next week.
I want to throw a party at 'The Sovereign'." The Sovereign was the ultraexclusive VIP lounge and club where I worked. Logan immediately beamed. "Of course! We’ll host it there!
Only the best for you!" Chloe glanced at me, a mocking smirk playing on her lips. "But I heard their biggest room, 'The Royal Suite', is almost impossible to book.
The minimum spend alone is fifteen thousand dollars." Logan patted his chest proudly. "Don't worry about it! Doesn't Scarlett work there? She's a floor manager.
She definitely has an insider discount." He turned to me, his voice commanding. "Scarlett, reserve the Royal Suite for next Saturday.
We want the topshelf liquor and imported fruit platters. Make sure it's all on the house." I looked at him coldly. "The Royal Suite is not open to the public.
It is strictly reserved for billionaire VIP members. And there is no such thing as 'on the house'." Logan waved his hand dismissively. "Cut the crap!
You’ve been working there for eight years, and you don’t even have that much pull? Just sleep with the boss—oh, I mean, just ask the boss.
Tell him it's for me." "Besides, aren't all your female coworkers basically selling themselves anyway? Get them all to come to Chloe’s party and serve us.
It’ll make the party look good." Chloe giggled loudly. "Exactly, Scarlett. Your little friends are great at pleasing people, aren't they?
Let them come and learn how to serve high society.
It’ll be a good learning experience for them." My fists clenched so hard my nails dug into my palms. "The Sovereign is a prestigious establishment.
My colleagues are professional staff." "Professional?" Logan burst into laughter. "What kind of professional works in a place like that?
Scarlett, don't play the saint when you're just a glorified bottle girl." He pulled two hundreddollar bills from his wallet and threw them at my face.
The bills fluttered down to the floor. "Take it. Consider it your tip.
Get this done perfectly, and don't embarrass Chloe." Chloe picked up the cash and stuffed it down my shirt collar. "Now that you've taken the money, you have to do the job, Scarlett.
Oh, and make sure you dress nicely that day. Don't wear your cheap work uniform.
You look like a janitor." I took a deep breath, pulled the two hundred dollars out of my collar, and looked at them. "Keep this money.
You’ll need it to buy your coffins." With that, I grabbed my bag and slammed the door behind me.
Opening · Chapter 4
On Saturday night, the entrance of The Sovereign was lined with luxury supercars.
Chloe wore a designer gown, clinging to Logan’s arm as they walked in, surrounded by a large group of their friends.
Her makeup was flawless, and around her neck was a diamond necklace Logan had just bought by maxing out my credit card.
I stood at the side of the grand lobby, dressed in a sharp, tailored black suit. The moment Logan spotted me, he shouted loudly. "Scarlett!
Didn't I tell you to wait at the entrance to welcome us? Why are you slacking off here?" He pointed to his group of snobbish friends. "See? This is my fiancée. She works here.
Everyone, go wild tonight! The tab is on her!" The crowd cheered, their eyes scanning my body with dirty looks. "So this is your girl, Logan?
Nice body." "I bet she’s real good with her hands, huh?" Chloe walked over, pretending to be sweet as she grabbed my hand. "Scarlett, did you get the Royal Suite ready?
My friends are waiting." I pulled my hand back, my expression completely blank. "The Royal Suite is reserved for a highprofile guest tonight.
You guys can have a standard medium room." Logan’s face twisted in an instant. "What did you say? Are you playing me, Scarlett?
I literally gave you a twohundreddollar deposit!" The people around them began to whisper. "I thought you said you had this handled, Logan?" "Can you actually pull this off or what?" Feeling humiliated in front of his friends, Logan snapped.
He lunged forward to grab my hair. "You bitch! Do you want to die?
Give us the Royal Suite right now!" Before he could touch me, the general manager, Marcus, rushed over with several security guards. "What's going on here?
Who is causing a scene?" When Marcus saw me, his eyes flickered, and he was about to speak. But Chloe beat him to it. She pointed at me and screamed, "Manager!
We want to report this woman!
She's stealing company funds and soliciting bribes from customers!" She pulled two hundred dollars from her bag and threw it onto the floor. "She took our money but refused to give us our suite!
How can you keep someone with dirty hands like her on your staff?" Logan immediately chimed in, "Yes! I’m her fiancé, and I can prove it!
She steals my money at home all the time, and she hooks up with random men behind my back!" He pointed at my face, looking like a righteous citizen. "This kind of trash is ruining your club's reputation!
Fire her immediately!" Marcus frowned, looking between me and Logan. "Sir, you shouldn't make wild accusations." "Accusations?
I saw it with my own eyes!" Taking advantage of my distraction, Logan slipped a diamond ring into my pocket. His movement was incredibly swift. He thought nobody saw it.
But he forgot we were standing directly under the security cameras. "Search her! There's definitely stolen goods in her pocket!
She's not just a whore; she's a thief!" The surrounding guests started to crowd around, whispering and pointing.
The security guard stepped forward and pulled the ring out of my pocket. The crowd gasped.
Chloe gasped, covering her mouth in mock horror. "Oh my god, Scarlett... how could you?" Logan smirked triumphantly, leaning close to my ear to whisper. "Scarlett, you're done.
Once you have a criminal record, you'll never recover." "The apartment is mine, the savings are mine, and you can rot in prison.
It saves me the trouble of finding an excuse to dump you anyway." He took a step back and shouted, "Call the police!
She needs to be locked up!" Marcus stared at the ring, his face turning incredibly cold. "Scarlett, do you have an explanation for this?" My eyes swept over Logan, then landed on Chloe. "An explanation?" I pulled out my phone and dialed a number. "Cast the security feed of the entire lobby onto the main digital screen right now." "And notify the legal department.
Have them bring the property deed for this building and all lease contracts. Get down to the lobby in five minutes."
