Opening · Chapter 1
Five years after escaping the Crimson Pack, my exhusband called me. He said our child missed me. My heart softened for a second.
I took a private jet back to the Crimson Pack estate, wanting to take my child away.
But the moment I walked in, I saw the three of them laughing and talking in the living room. "Jasmine was jealous because she knew I had a mate before.
She insisted on bringing you back to punish you and make herself feel better." Ethan gestured to a guard, who placed a glass of whiskey laced with wolfsbane right in front of me, ordering me to drink.
My fiveyearold son, whom I hadn't seen in years, chimed in. "You might have given birth to me, but Jasmine is my only mother.
You're just a useless reject who abandoned me." What a bunch of delusional idiots. What the hell were they thinking? Could they not see that I had already found my fated mate?
Seeing me stand there frozen, Jasmine slammed her glass down onto the table. "Why is she just standing there? I thought you said this Omega of yours was obedient?
That she’d do whatever you say?" "Don't be mad, Jasmine. She’s just slow.
She hasn't realized what’s happening yet." Ethan spoke softly to her, then turned his cold gaze to me. "Drink it." His tone was just like five years ago—commanding and absolute.
Beside them, the child I carried for ten painful months stood up on the sofa. He pointed at me, using the exact same commanding tone as his father. "My mom told you to drink!
Didn't you hear her? Do it now!" I couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh. "I shouldn't have come back to see you people.
Just looking at you makes me want to throw up." I pulled out my phone, wanting to call Michael, but a guard stepped forward, snatched it from my hand, and smashed it onto the ground.
The phone shattered into pieces. "What do you think you're doing!" I frowned, shocked by their sheer audacity. "Jasmine said you need to stay here for a few days to be punished.
Once she's happy, we'll let you leave. Don't even think about contacting the outside world." Ethan’s voice was completely calm as he handed Jasmine a glass of juice.
He had never cared about my consent.
Not five years ago, and certainly not now. "I have a new mate, Ethan." I looked him dead in the eye and raised my hand, showing them the ring on my ring finger.
Under the chandelier, the giant pink diamond ring sparkled brilliantly. Ethan stared at my face for a few seconds before letting out a mocking laugh. "Don't lie to me.
Everyone knows you're just a useless little Omega breeder I threw away. Who would ever want you?
You don't even have another Alpha's scent on you." Jasmine burst into laughter. "Stop trying to fool us with a fake ring. A pink diamond that size?
I only know of one in the world, and it was bought by a mysterious billionaire. Are you trying to tell us you're with him?" "No.
My Alpha bought it for me." Jasmine laughed even harder, pointing a finger at my face. "You? A rejected piece of trash who already popped out a kid? Do you even listen to yourself?
At least make your lies believable!" "Drink it, Sophie.
Don't make me say it again." Ethan grabbed my wrist and forced me down onto a chair by the dining table. "And if I don't?" "If you make Jasmine unhappy, I will destroy your mother's grave and scatter her ashes into the river." Ethan stared into my eyes, trying to read me.
We hadn't seen each other in five years. Yet, beneath his disdainful gaze, I actually saw a flicker of longing.
That longing was just as disgusting as he was. "You're forcing my hand." "You didn't care about her when she was alive.
Do you really want her to have no peace in death?" Ethan pointed at the wolfsbanelaced whiskey. "Drink."
Opening · Chapter 2
I took a deep breath. Michael had some pack business to attend to, but he would arrive at the Crimson Pack territory in two days to pick me up.
I just needed to survive fortyeight hours. "Fine.
I'll drink." "Don't sip it!" Jasmine snatched the glass from the table, crossing her arms. "Sipping it ruins the punishment!" Suppressing the rage burning inside me, I tilted my head back and gulped it down.
Instantly, my stomach felt like it was on fire. My limbs grew numb and weak.
When I finally finished the poison, Jasmine gave me a disgusted look. "Ugh, I hope that doesn't kill her here.
It would ruin my mood." Fortunately, the dosage wasn't lethal, or I would have collapsed on the spot. "Are you stupid, Jasmine?
Don't you know how wolfsbane affects a werewolf?" "How dare you talk to my mom like that!" Leo snapped. He grabbed the glass with the leftover liquid and forced it down my throat.
My vision began to blur. Seeing my violent reaction, Ethan looked a bit panicked. "Sophie, stop faking it." "She’s a great actress. It was just a little wolfsbane.
Anyone would think she drank a lethal dose," Jasmine sneered, turning to walk upstairs. I curled up on the floor in agony.
Through the haze, I heard Ethan ordering someone. "Do what the Luna said. Call a Healer here.
If anything happens to Sophie, treat her immediately." Before leaving, Ethan knelt down and snatched the diamond ring off my finger. "What are you doing!" I screamed at him. "Even if you're lying, the thought of another Alpha touching you makes me sick.
You were once my Luna, after all." Ethan tossed the priceless ring into the trash can. "You've gotten brave over the last five years, Sophie." "But have you forgotten how you used to beg me to spend just a little more time with you?" With that, Ethan walked upstairs.
The wolfsbane kept me awake and in pain all night. The Healer only gave me a basic potion to ease the burning. In my feverish state, my mind drifted to the past.
I only married Alpha Ethan because my mother was critically ill, and I needed money to pay the Healers. I didn't care who he slept with.
Ethan's mother, Margaret, told me that as long as he stayed with me and I gave him an heir, she would pay me enough to leave. "The women Ethan brings home are too dirty.
No one even knows whose pups they carry. I need a pureblood heir. Give me a grandchild, and you can go." Ethan was cruel. He used to drug me to make me please him.
He even sent humiliating photos of me to his friends. I was degraded in every way possible. My mother passed away after those photos leaked.
She was literally shocked to death by the shame. After she died, the money meant nothing to me. But by then, I was pregnant, and my heart softened for the baby.
On the day I gave birth, the Healer called him. "Alpha Clark, congratulations on your newborn son." Ethan just gave a distracted hum and hung up. So, I left.
Despite the Healer’s warnings that I needed rest, I couldn't stay a second longer. I never wanted to see Ethan again.
When I went to Margaret to say goodbye, she tried to persuade me. "Ethan knew you gave birth today. He went to prepare a celebration feast for you.
He was just busy when he hung up." "Sophie, do you really think you could have carried this baby to term without Ethan’s silent protection?" "Stay.
Ethan won't admit it, but I can tell he cares about you." "But I only have hatred for him." My face was filled with disgust.
Hearing the word "care" from them made me sick. "You promised to let me go. Please keep your word." Five years had passed since that day.
Opening · Chapter 3
I was jolted awake by a bucket of freezing water splashed over my face.
When I opened my eyes, I saw Leo holding an empty bucket, while Jasmine clapped her hands. "Good job, sweetie!" The wolfsbane was finally leaving my system, but the cold water made me shiver violently, triggering a splitting headache. "What do you want?" "Do you think you're here on vacation?
Sleeping so soundly?" Jasmine sneered. "Get up. You're coming with us." They dragged me down to the pack's dungeon. It was freezing, damp, and smelled of rust and dried blood.
Chains, whips, and torture devices hung from the walls. This was where the Crimson Pack dealt with traitors. Ethan was already standing there.
He frowned when he saw me. "Why did you bring her here?" "What? Are you feeling sorry for her?" Jasmine pouted. "Of course not. You're my chosen Luna.
I just meant, why did you bring Leo along?" Ethan patted Jasmine’s head, then knelt down to tie Leo’s shoelaces.
Wet and freezing, I huddled in the corner, shivering from the draft. "Since I'm your chosen Luna, I want to drive silver nails through her knees.
Is that okay?" Jasmine tilted her head, tugging at Ethan’s arm. My eyes widened in horror. "What did you say?" Silver nails through my knees?
How could they be so barbaric? "That might ruin her permanently, Jasmine," Ethan said, looking slightly hesitant as he glanced at me. "Her life is worthless, but if other packs find out, it might cause unnecessary gossip." Jealousy flashed in Jasmine’s eyes.
She pushed Leo forward. "Our son wants to do it too. Besides, we won't drive them in too deep. What’s the big deal?" "You said I was your Luna.
Are you going to take an outsider's side over mine?" Leo shook Ethan’s arm. "Daddy, Daddy, I want to do it!" "Didn't you say this woman survived a hundred lashes at the silver post before?
She’ll be fine with just a couple of nails!" I looked at the child I had carried for ten months. I couldn't believe how coldblooded and heartless he was. "Leo...
I should have never given birth to you." "If I knew you'd turn out just like Ethan, I would have never brought you into this world." I began to cough violently.
My body was burning up. I was running a high fever. "Enough, Sophie! You were the one who begged to marry me. I never wanted you." "And you abandoned our son the moment he was born.
What right do you have to speak to him like that?" Ethan’s eyes flared with anger. "Do you know how much I wanted to kill you when I came home with everything ready, only to find you gone?" Looking closely, I actually saw a hint of vulnerability in his eyes. "That's because I never loved you, Ethan." "I was only with you for the money.
I told you that five years ago." "Fine. Fine!" Ethan nodded grimly, grabbing my arm and throwing me forward. I collided with a metal rack, making my head spin. "Tie her up.
Drive the silver nails into her knees. Let's see how she runs away this time."
Opening · Chapter 4
The agony of silver piercing my kneecaps made my entire body spasm. A werewolf's healing ability was useless against silver.
The wounds burned, refusing to close, as blood poured down my legs. The pain came in waves, making me shake uncontrollably.
All I could hear was Jasmine and Leo cheering. "This is so much fun!" "Wait, is she dead? Why isn't she moving?" "Dead? She survived a hundred lashes.
If she dies from just this, it’s her own weak fault." My blood stained the dirt floor. My consciousness began to slip away. The pain was so intense I could barely breathe.
I clawed at the dirt. "Michael... Michael..." I muttered his name over and over. "Stop!" Ethan suddenly shouted. Everyone froze.
I felt like I was breaking apart. "We only did one leg! Why stop?" Jasmine complained. "Are you seriously worried about her dying?" Ethan frowned, staring at my bloody knee.
His expression was incredibly complex. He reached out and touched my forehead. "She’s burning up." Without another word, he scooped me up in his arms.
His movements were gentler than I remembered, his brow furrowed as if he didn't even understand his own actions.
My head spun, and I curled closer to him for warmth, which only irritated the wound on my knee. "Michael... it hurts," I whimpered.
Hearing that name, Ethan’s face turned incredibly dark. "Michael? Is that her little lover? And here you are, worrying about her!" Jasmine sneered. "Shut up," Ethan snapped at her.
Jasmine’s eyes widened in disbelief. "How dare you speak to me like that?" "Jasmine, you are nothing without the Clark family.
Don't interfere in my business." Ethan carried me back to a bedroom and summoned a Healer. "Who is Michael?" Ethan demanded, staring at my pale face. "Sophie, do you really have a new mate?" Downstairs, Jasmine was crying and calling for Margaret.
After taking some medicine, the Healer applied a soothing herbal paste to my knee. The noise from downstairs kept me from sleeping. "Ethan! I am your chosen Luna!
How could you yell at me for her? Who is more important to you?" "Tell me the truth! Do you still love her?" Jasmine’s hysterical screams echoed through the house.
Michael would arrive tonight. If he couldn't find me, he would lose his mind. But my phone was destroyed.
Just as panic began to set in, I noticed Ethan had left his phone on the nightstand. I hesitated, then grabbed it. I tried several passcodes, but they all failed.
Sweat dripped down my forehead. Finally, I thought of one last combination. I typed in: 0621. The phone unlocked. My heart skipped a beat. It was my birthday.
And his lock screen was an old photo of the two of us. A wave of nausea washed over me. Shaking it off, I dialed Michael’s number.
He picked up almost instantly, and hearing his voice made my eyes tear up. "Michael, can you come earlier? Something went wrong..." Before I could finish, the door was kicked open.
Margaret stood at the entrance. It had been five years, but we both remained strangely calm. "I knew you'd come back eventually," Margaret said coldly. "I didn't want to.
Your son tricked me. I should have never let my guard down." Ethan walked in behind her, his face turning pale when he heard my words. Jasmine rushed in, screaming, "You btch!
Ethan is kicking me out because of you! What kind of cheap tricks did you use this time?" She tried to lung at me, but Ethan held her back. "Stop it, Jasmine!" "Ethan!
You brought her back telling me it was for punishment! But you're just trying to get back with her!" Jasmine wailed. "Margaret! You have to do something!" "Quiet!
You're giving me a headache," Margaret said with deep annoyance.
She turned to me. "Sophie, do you want to be the Luna again?" The three of us froze. "Margaret, what are you saying?" Jasmine shrieked. "I am the Luna here!" "Who cares about the title?
What matters is who my son wants," Margaret said coldly. "Sophie, what do you say?" "I refuse.
I already have a new mate, Elder Luna." I was completely baffled by this family’s twisted logic. Returning to Ethan? I’d rather die.
Ethan’s face darkened instantly. "Take her to the assembly hall. Let her stand there all night. Just like before.
Let’s see how long her attitude lasts." I was dragged to the assembly hall. The familiar, cold environment brought back horrible memories.
As I tried to stand, Jasmine kicked me hard. "You btch!" I collapsed to the floor, my knee wound reopening and bleeding through the bandages.
Ethan looked down at me. "Sophie, agree to be my Luna again, or stand here until you die." "That is no longer your decision to make, Ethan," I looked up at him, smiling weakly. "You are just as selfish and arrogant as you were five years ago.
You don't even compare to my fated mate." Ethan’s face turned white with rage. He grabbed a whip, ready to strike me just like the old days.
But before the whip could land, the doors of the Crimson Pack's assembly hall were kicked open. Dozens of elite warriors from the Iron Crest Pack flooded the hall.
Following them, Michael walked in. Outside, a guard screamed in panic, "Alpha! The Crimson Pack manor is on fire!"
